Wind turbine Press Release

FIRST WIND TURBINE INSTALLED FOR A HIGH SCHOOL WIND EDUCATION PROGRAM IN NEW MEXICO

May 1, 2014 – Albuquerque NM - Osceola Energy a local renewable energy installer has interconnected the first High School Wind Turbine for the Wind for Schools Program in northeastern New Mexico. For the last two years Osceola Energy and Mark Van Wormer MD, Economic Development Director for the Union County Community Development Corporation (UCCDC), have worked together to develop a wind-energy curricula program and installed a Skystream Wind Turbine for the Clayton High School's earth-science program. Funding for the school based wind project was generously provided by the Frederick Leonhardt Foundation of Albuquerque, NM and ENMR Telecommunications of Clovis New Mexico.

Osceola Energy installed a Skystream 3.7, 120/240 VAC Split 1 Ph, 60 Hz wind turbine made in America for the Clayton High School that is located in a class IV-V wind zone. The Skystream peak power rating is 2.6 kilowatts of power and stands on a 34 foot monopole tower. The inverter is self contained within the head of the turbine and uses three reinforced fiberglass composite blades. The system is grid-tie into the on-site electrical power source. A two way wireless monitoring system with computer software interface will be used for class curriculum. The wind Turbine is expected to cut the usage at the school by 500 kilowatts a month, reducing the schools electric usage as well as costs while also providing vocational education for the junior and senior science students.

The Clayton High Schopol Wind Turbine installed by Osceola Energy will allow for more vocational education to move students into higher education wind programs. The goal for the curriculum is to stimulate interest in renewable energy, especially wind power, at the high school level while providing an advanced science curricula to equip students to enter into higher level technical institutes like Mesaland Wind College in Tucumcari New Mexico. This exposure to curricula that offers advanced skills programs related to a growing job market following high school graduation will help propel the industry and rural students into a growing job market. Osceola Energy is proud to have been a part of this project and would like to invite the community to the ribbon cutting ceremony on May 16th 2014. Come enjoy food and drinks while watching the new Wind Turbine “turn the meter backward” at the Clayton High School Alternative Education Building 415 S 7th Street Clayton NM 88415 on May 16th 2014 starting at 1:30pm.
