How does an off-grid solar system work?
An Off-grid solar system has a battery bank that is sized to store enough electricity for 42 hours without sunlight (as a worst case scenario - it is extremely unlikely to have 42 hours without sunlight powering your off-grid solar system). An off grid inverter is used to detect when you need power to run circuits in your home or when the batteries need to be re-charged; during the night, when solar panels are not producing power, your off-grid solar system draws it's energy from batteries. Each morning, as the sun rises, your batteries are re-filled. Once re-filled, the power you produce during daylight hours is used directly to solar power your home and bypasses the battery.
